Golden Scarab

Based on the videogame: Elden Ring

Elden Ring has been a huge learning experience and inspiration for me, this is why I decided to do a deep dive into one of the game regions, Caelid.

For this project, I wanted to bring the Golden Scarab talisman to life, but with my own design choices. I ended up combining the open wing silhouette of the talisman with some of the chunkier, rounded features from the in game scarab helmets to give it a bit more weight.

To connect it to the Cleanrot Knights who carry it, I sculpted intricate ornamental engravings and added red gem accents to match their designs. I then hand-painted the piece using multiple shades of gold and bronze, adding weathering and patina to make it look like an authentic, aged metal object.

Finally, to make sure everything felt like it belonged to the same world, I sculpted a custom display base inspired by Caelid, complete with rot soil, mushrooms, and trippy lichens to cradle the scarab.

It's the smallest sculpt I’ve done for my channel, but honestly, it’s easily my favorite so far.

Forest Warden

Based on my project: Antigua

For this project, I wanted to try something different by stepping away from my usual fully digital workflow and starting with a traditional pencil sketch on paper.

The Forest Warden is an original design of mine, a once formidable knight who got lost in the woods, slowly losing his mind to the mycelium until he became one with the forest itself.

After cleaning up the sketch and sculpting him in ZBrush, I 3D printed the figure at about 30 cm tall. Because he's quite top heavy, I filled the hollowed base with sand and sealed it with Milliput to give him solid support.

When it came to painting, I went super freestyle, blending earthy greens and barks with blues and orange accents to mimic forest flowers. I toned down his remaining armor plates with a mix of metallic gray and copper rust, and built a colorful forest floor base to ground him.

It was a massive learning experience in balancing color dynamics and mixing traditional and digital pipelines, and I'm really proud of how the final piece turned out.
